the Mahaprasadha volunteer team conducted a free meal distribution programme in the <strong>Bommanahalli\u2013Begur Road area of Bengaluru<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The programme was organised with the simple intention of providing a freshly prepared, wholesome vegetarian meal to people in the surrounding community who could benefit from food support.<\/p>\n<p>Preparations began early in the morning, with volunteers assisting with cooking, packing and transportation.<\/p>\n<p>By late morning, the first meal packets were ready for distribution.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h4>\n<h3>The day&#8217;s meal<\/h3>\n<\/h4>\n<p><h3>The meal consisted of:<\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Steamed rice<\/li>\n<li>Sambar<\/li>\n<li>Dal<\/li>\n<li>Vegetable curry<\/li>\n<li>Curd<\/li>\n<li>Pickle<\/li>\n<li>Seasonal banana<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A total of <strong>1,050 meals were prepared<\/strong>, with <strong>1,000 meals distributed<\/strong> during the programme.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining meals were kept aside for volunteers and the support team involved in the day&#8217;s activities.<\/p>\n<h3>22 volunteers, one common purpose<\/h3>\n<p>The programme brought together <strong>22 volunteers<\/strong>, who helped with everything from preparing food and packing meal containers to distributing meals and cleaning the service area afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>The meal distribution reached daily-wage workers, elderly people, people travelling through the area and members of families requiring temporary food assistance.<\/p>\n<p>For us, Annadanam is not simply about giving food.<\/p>\n<p>It is about serving food <strong>with respect and without discrimination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Behind every meal<\/h3>\n<p>A meal served to one person involves many small contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Someone provides the rice.<\/p>\n<p>Someone brings the vegetables.<\/p>\n<p>Someone prepares the food.<\/p>\n<p>Someone packs it.<\/p>\n<p>Someone carries it.<\/p>\n<p>And someone takes the time to serve it.<\/p>\n<p>When all these efforts come together, a simple meal becomes <strong>seva<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Our continuing goal<\/h3>\n<p>The Bommanahalli programme was one of our steps towards a larger goal of regular food distribution programmes across Bengaluru and neighbouring communities.<\/p>\n<p>We hope to continue expanding the
